Lives and works in Cardiff, Wales
Catrin Llwyd is a painter and drawer who works primarily with an intuitive fascination with place and nature, often depicting seemingly empty buildings, wintry forests, and the luminous presence of the full moon. Through painting, she seeks to explore what is unseen—something just beyond the tangible—allowing space for multiple narratives to emerge. Working from life and her immediate surroundings, she captures the spontaneity of the moment while also observing the passage of time, returning to familiar places again and again to witness their subtle transformations.
Having graduated from the Cardiff School of Art and Design in 2010, Llwyd has continued to develop her art practice. Working primarily with watercolour and gouache on paper, and oil on board, her work centres around capturing the natural world and exploring atmospheric landscapes that are both real and imagined, inspired by her surroundings.
Llwyd’s work has been included in ‘Into a Light’ Saatchi Gallery (Prints and Original Gallery), Royal Academy Summer Show 2020, London Art Fair and Mostyn gallery. She has had solo shows in Cardiff and has works in private collection in the US, Canada, Japan, Germany, Australia along with works included in the UK Government Art Collection.
